Katy Gets Hitched

This weekend Matt and I spent the weekend together but instead of me heading to Canada or Matt coming to Denver we met up in San Francisco for my good friend Katy's wedding. Her wedding was in San Jose but since San Fran is about an hour away and Matt had never seen it before we decided to do a little sight seeing. It was pretty cool because it was Fleet Week which meant there were some naval boats docked at the Port and a ton of activities going on. We caught the tail end of the Blue Angels air show as we were driving into Fishermen's Wharf which was really cool. There was a live band on Pier 39 and other little attractions around the area. Here's a few pics from some of our stops.
If you've never had Boudin Sourdough bread you are missing out. It is delicious! I thought these bread animals were pretty cute. We got a turtle and while I felt a little bad ripping his little head off but he tasted so good I put aside my feelings

We walked down to Ghiradelli Square. I wanted to show Matt the chocolate making machine and of course get our free sample. While we were there stopped in at a little tasting room for wine tasting. Here's the view from where we were standing. You can see Alcatraz through the window

Enjoying our wine

The ceremony was at the Santa Clara Mission and it was beautiful. There were probably a hundered little candles everywhere which was a really beautiful touch. The church itself was so ornate with all of its paintings and architecture it was a gorgeous and romantic setting for the wedding. I didn't get any photos in the church since it was discouraged by the priest.
The ceremony was at the hotel we were staying at, Hotel DeAnza. We walked by the room earlier that day and then when we came back for the reception it was totally transformed. If you know Katy you know that every little aspect was absolutely perfect and thought out.

It was a great weekend and an awesome wedding. I couldn't be happier for Katy and Charlie. They deserve all the happiness in the world and that's exactly what they found in one another. Plus any weekend with Matt is always a perfect one!

Go Broncos!

Yesterday Jenn and I attended our very first Broncos game from the stands. It was so much fun! Instead of wearing half tops and working out for 4 hours straight we got to have some alcoholic beverages and hot dogs in shirts that covered everything. I loved it! First we stopped by the locker room to say hello to our old teammates and then we headed to our seats to catch the opening.

Getting situated in our seats. We were one section over from being part of the "club level." I tried to fenagle our way in but it wasn't happening. I guess a smile can't get you everything!

Player intros. The cheerleaders don't do our traditional opening anymore :( They walk straight out of the tunnel do a little in place dancing and stand in their lines. Sad day!

Shorties!

Broncos win 17-10!

Canadian Celebrations

The weekend of September 18th I headed up north to Vancouver. It was a weekend full of celebrations. When I landed on Friday we headed straight to downtown Vancouver for his step-brother Jeff's wedding. The wedding was a lot of fun and the location was awesome. Chelsi (the bride) looked stunning.

Saturday we had a birthday party for Matt. A bunch of his friends came over and after hanging out for a little while we headed to Matt's stomping ground, Jack's Pub. The night didn't last too long since Matt's friends purchased him over 20 drinks in a several hour period! Needless to say someone wasn't feeling so good by the end of the night.

Sunday was Matt's actual 25th birthday. Happy Birthday Matt!!! We spent the day watching football and relaxing before we headed to his birthday dinner at the Boathouse. The Boathouse is a seafood restaurant located right on the beach. Our reservation was at 7 which meant we got to see the sun set while we were eating, it was really cool and a perfect birthday dinner location.

OK, so here's the bad news. My camera died before Jeff and Chelsi's wedding was over! I did manage to get a few pictures, so here they are:

Happy Birthday Jenn!

This past weekend we celebrated my friend Jenn's 25th birthday. According to her husband Josh it wasn't nearly as important as her 24th (Josh is a huge Jeff Gordon fan... number 2-4 haha I love that guy) but we thought it was pretty important to celebrate nonetheless. We went out for Mexican and came home and had a few treats while we sat around and chatted. Here's a pic of Jenn blowing out her big ol birthday candle:

Happy Birthday Jenn! I love ya and I'm lucky to have such an awesome friend. Here's to celebrating in another 25 years :)

Return to Canada

After 6 weeks apart I finally got to see Matt again!! Wow 6 weeks was WAY too long. We'll definitely never pull that one again. Anyone that has been in a long distance relationship before can feel my pain. I got in on Friday and we decided to enjoy our favorite spot for dinner, Boston Pizza. BP is a Canadian staple. There is actually an American version called Boston's Gourmet Pizza but its not 100% the same. When Matt was last in CO we decided to try the one and only chain here in CO, which happened to be in Highlands Ranch (land of the corporate restaurant). The menu was a little different. But the pizza dough recipe was the same and there was a lot of overlap. Still, it just doesn't fix my BP cravings.

Our Saturday was pretty busy as we had to go buy a gift for a wedding we had to attend in the early evening/late afternoon. Matt's friend Adam was getting married to his girlfriend Lori. Their wedding was really pretty and I should've taken more pictures but sometimes I'm horrible at remembering to whip out the camera. I did grab a photo of Matt and I:

We had to leave the wedding festivities a little early because it was Matt's dad's 50th surprise birthday party celebration. We missed the whole surprise part but we did get there in time to have a lot of fun with everyone! This picture is pretty funny. The other girl in the picture is Chelsi, Matt's step-brother's fiancee (whose wedding we are attending during my next trip 2 weeks from now). She's pretty much my only friend in Canada. The guy on the left is Matt's dad Bob and the other guy is one of his friends. We didn't realize they were in our picture but it made it that much better:

On Sunday we decided to take it easy. Randomly we ended up deciding we would go mini golfing. This was hands down my best round of mini golf EVER! I got two hole-in-ones. Woo hoo! Somehow I still managed to lose the game though... Oh well, it was a moral victory. Here's a picture of us on the course:

Another fun weekend in Canada and heading back September 18th for the wedding and to celebrate Matt's 25th!

Bachelorette Celebration

This past weekend I headed to Vail with 12 other lovely ladies to celebrate my friend Katy getting hitched. The whole trip was a lot of fun and I got to see Vail in the summer which was gorgeous! I got to make some new friends which is always fun and it made me even more excited for her big day in October! Here's a pic of us at dinner right as the sun was setting. The restaurant was at the top of the lifts on the mountain so we had an awesome view!

Hiking Adventure

Breleigh and I were house sitting in Golden this past weekend (and will be through next Sunday) and since its about 25 minutes closer to the mountains I decided we would head up to Summit County for a hike. Originally I had planned a hike in Georgetown but since I couldn't find the trailhead I made a quick change of plans and we went to Keystone instead. Keystone is a huge ski resort in the winter. I've actually never been there in the summer so I thought it might be fun to hike up it and check it out when the view is green rather than white. The hike took us 3 hours!! It wasn't a straight up treck, rather it wrapped around the mountain and had quite a few switchbacks which made the trip pretty long. We did take a few self-made shortcuts which were pretty steep climbs but we both made it through them ok!

Here is Bre at the start of the hike. She usually trots ahead of me and then turns around to wait for me to catch up. That is until she starts getting so tired that she trots a step or two behind me.

Luckily we found a nice little waterfall and stream for Breleigh to play around in halfway up the mountain. I've never been so hot and sweaty on Keystone before. Usually I'm freezing cold so it was a nice change up.

We made it to the top! Here's the view from the peak:

I figured we earned the right to take the gondola down after all that :)
